Road Construction That Accounts for the Conditions On Site
Roads used by cars, delivery vehicles and heavy machinery place different demands on the pavement beneath them. Traffic loads, ground conditions, drainage and connections to existing roads all influence the work required.
A One Asphalt provides road construction and civil asphalt paving across South East Queensland. With over 30 years of experience in asphalt construction and earthworks, we undertake excavation, road base construction, pavement preparation and hot mix asphalt surfacing for new roads and existing infrastructure.
Our work includes access roads, internal roads, school and commercial sites, and asphalt works associated with civil construction projects.
New Road Construction & Asphalt Pavements
A One Asphalt constructs asphalt roads and accessways for commercial properties, schools, industrial sites and civil projects. Whether the work involves a new internal road, a vehicle access route or a paved connection between existing areas, the pavement needs to suit its intended traffic.
Construction can include clearing and excavation, establishing road levels, preparing and compacting the road base, drainage works and laying hot mix asphalt.
Entry points, adjoining pavements, kerbs and surface water runoff also need consideration so the new road connects properly with the surrounding site.
Road Reconstruction, Upgrades & Civil Reinstatement
Existing roads can deteriorate through repeated traffic loads, water damage and movement in the underlying pavement. Where the road base has failed, placing fresh asphalt over the surface may not address the cause of the damage.
A One Asphalt undertakes road pavement reconstruction and upgrades, including removal of damaged asphalt, excavation, road base repairs and new asphalt surfacing.
We also carry out asphalt reinstatement associated with civil works, including excavated sections and trenches for underground services. These areas require suitable backfilling, compaction and pavement reinstatement to reconnect with the surrounding road surface.
Planning Roadworks or Civil Asphalt Construction?
Whether you’re constructing a new access road, upgrading an existing pavement or reinstating asphalt after civil works, the work needs to account for the site and how the road will be used.
Road dimensions, vehicle loads, existing pavement conditions and drainage can all affect the construction requirements and cost.

Our Road Construction Process
1. Site Assessment & Project Scope
We discuss the proposed roadworks, site conditions, intended vehicle use and any existing pavement or drainage issues. Where available, project plans and specifications help establish the scope of work.
2. Earthworks & Pavement Preparation
Preparation can involve removing existing pavement, excavation, grading and constructing a compacted road base. Drainage, road levels and connections to surrounding surfaces are considered during this stage.
3. Asphalt Paving & Compaction
Hot mix asphalt is placed over the prepared pavement and compacted using suitable equipment. The asphalt requirements depend on the road’s intended use and the project specifications.
4. Final Checks & Completion
The finished pavement is checked for levels, surface connections and completed work. The asphalt must cool sufficiently before the road is opened to traffic, with timing dependent on the site conditions.
Why Choose A One Asphalt?
Over 30 Years of Asphalt Experience
A One Asphalt has worked on roads, commercial pavements, school grounds and civil construction projects across South East Queensland for more than three decades.

Our work includes excavation, road base construction, drainage and asphalt paving. Projects requiring both pavement preparation and surfacing can be discussed with the same contractor.
Experience Across Different Project Sizes
We undertake smaller access road projects, localised pavement reconstruction and larger civil asphalt works. The construction approach depends on the work required rather than a fixed project size.
